Important new hardware details have been revealed concerning Google’s next-gen Pixel devices, including the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and a forthcoming tablet device.
According to the leak, courtesy of Android developer and leaker Kuba Wojciechowski, both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will use Samsung’s 11-megapixel Isocell 3J1 sensor in their front-facing ‘selfie’ cameras. The Isocell 3J1 supports dual-pixel autofocus for improved focusing and face-authentication performance, as well as Samsung’s ‘Smart WDR’ feature for improved dynamic range.
This configuration marks a radical departure from the equivalent Pixel 6 models, where the Pro model comes with a similar 11-megapixel sensor, but the ‘non-Pro’ edition has to make do with a lower-resolution 8-megapixel version, delivering lower image quality and missing out on 4K selfie videos altogether.
According to the same leak, both Pixel 7 models are expected to retain the same rear camera sensors as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro — Samsung’s 50-megapixel Isocell GN1 for the main lens, paired with a Sony IMX381 for the ultrawide lens. One exception is that the telephoto sensor on the Pixel 7 Pro has been changed to a Sony IMX586 rather than the similarly-specced Isocell GM1 found in the current Pixel 6 Pro.
Also discovered by Wojciechowski are references to an unknown Google device with the code name ‘Lynx - L10’, again featuring a 50-megapixel Isocell GN1, but this time paired with a new 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 as found in ZTE’s recently-launched Axon 40 Ultra. The Lynx L10 reportedly uses an as-yet-unannounced Sony IMX712 sensor in its front-facing camera. This indicates that Google may finally be developing a device that combines cutting-edge camera hardware with its already excellent image processing software. Whether or not it ever appears as a commercial product remains to be seen.
Lastly, Google’s code also reveals a new Pixel Tablet T6 featuring two 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 sensors and a new ‘P7’ device expected to be a foldable smartphone featuring the 50-megapixel Isocell GN1 alongside an 11-megapixel Sony IMX363 and an 8-megapixel IMX355.
As is often the case with leaks of this kind, these unannounced details have been gleaned from text found within Google’s own newly-released code. What’s different this time is that the relevant information appears to have been intentionally obscured to make it harder for leakers like Wojciechowski to discover unreleased specs. This strongly suggests that Google intended this information to remain under wraps for the time being.
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are expected to launch in October of this year.

Samsung Repair Mode has been introduced to take care of your personal data while the device is at a service center.
Sending your phone to a service centre is a nightmare, isn't it? The repair costs are one aspect but keeping your data safe on it is another task. While the only solution is to create a backup of all your data, Samsung has come up with a solution to fix this issue for once and all. It has designed a feature called Repair Mode on its Galaxy devices. The idea is simple – this mode will keep your sensitive data safe from prying eyes at the service station, and prevent the need to reset the device altogether.
The feature will be part of the Battery and Device Care option under Settings menu. Once the feature is activated, the phone will reboot and will open up an interface that is devoid of all your personal data. This personal data will consist of photos, messages, accounts and the installed apps. To the service centre people, it will appear as a brand new phone.
Once the phone has been repaired and is handed back to you, you will be able to deactivate the Repair Mode using the fingerprint sensor or the pattern unlock – just like a regular new phone. The phone will reboot again and will open up to the profile with all your data and settings intact, even the service people have changed it in the Repair Mode.
For the service people, the Repair Mode will create a log of the data that records all the recent issues and the apps that are associated with. Samsung assures that the data won't be shared with anyone in the log and in the Repair Mode as well. However, for the cynical ones, you can choose to avoid creating a log of the issues as well.
As of now, the Repair mode is coming first to the Galaxy S21 series devices via a future software update. Samsung eventually plans to expand the feature to some other models as well in the future. Additionally, the feature seem to be limited to the Korean markets for now and Samsung could release it later for other markets as well.
We wish more manufacturers adopt this way of keeping the data safe while the device goes for repair.
A new detail found in the iOS 16 beta could be the latest indication that Apple is indeed planning to bring always-on display functionality to the upcoming high-end iPhones.
As discovered by 9to5Mac, the latest iOS 16 beta adds a new "Sleep" state to the default wallpapers found in iOS 16. The new "Sleep" mode is a version of the wallpaper that is darker and more tinted, better suited to be shown on an always-on display. In simpler terms, the new "Sleep" state could be described as a photo filter that could be applied to any image the user chooses to use for their always-on display.

With the new "Sleep" state, users will see remnants of their wallpaper and information, such as the time and their lock screen widgets, even when their display is not in active use. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has already reported that an always-on display tied into the iOS 16 Lock Screen will be coming only to the higher-end iPhone 14 models.
An always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro will be possible thanks to more advanced displays that feature a refresh rate as low as 1Hz. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature ProMotion technology and can go as high as 120Hz and as low as 10Hz. Compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, the lower 1Hz refresh rate on the iPhone 14 Pro series will improve energy efficiency with an always-on display.
An always-on display is one of several big changes rumored to be coming to the iPhone 14 Pro lineup, including a replacement of the notch with a pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout, a 48MP rear camera, faster performance, new colors, and more. A complete rundown of everything we know about the iPhone 14 Pro lineup can be found in our roundup.

The landmarks, which include places like the Empire State Building in New York City and Big Ben in London, are shown in full photorealistic views. You can go to one of the selected landmarks in Google Maps and open the Photos section to see the 3D version. Google says this is just the start of adding the full immersive view feature in the app. When it begins rolling out later this year, it will allow travelers in select cities to soar over the map, or get down to Street View level and see helpful info like when a restaurant is open or nearby traffic.
Google Maps also added new route information for cyclists in this update. It will now show where you might encounter some steep hills or stairs, or if there’s heavy traffic along your route. Finally, this update adds location sharing notifications. If you share your location with a family member or friend, they can get alerted in the Maps app, or via email, if you have arrived or departed at that location. This should give both you and the person you shared your location with some piece of mind.

Google Pixel 6a comes with a Magic Eraser feature that will let users remove unwanted objects from their picture. Other android and iPhones users can get it too.
Google has released the much awaited Google Pixel 6a smartphone a few days ago and the phone has already left users impressed with its features. One of the most impressive features of the newly released Google Pixel 6a is Magic Eraser. It's a camera tool that allows you to remove unwanted objects from your pictures. It allows you to select the object you want to remove and press the Magic Eraser button and it's done. But note that this interesting camera tool is limited to newer Pixel smartphones only. Recently, Apple too has unveiled this feature on the upcoming software update iOS 16 wherein users will be able to crop unwanted objects from the background of the image. However, it's yet to be rolled out publicly. Apart from these phones, other android users are yet to get this feature. But there's a workaround that will let users access a similar feature. All they have to do is download a Google app called Snapseed. It is known as Healing and offers a similar tool as Magic Eraser. Here's how you can use it.

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Google started just as a search engine. Since then, the company has branched out, offering many digital services for personal and business. One of those services is the Google Play Store, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Today, Google announced that it would be revamping its Google Play logo, bringing it in line with its other products.
In the beginning, the Google Play Store started life on Android 1.0 as Android Market. A few years later, it would be rebranded and now has over 2.5 billion users. It is available in over 190 countries. Of course, the Google Play Store wouldn’t be much without its content, and that credit goes strictly towards the over two million developers that help make the great apps in the store. Furthermore, in appreciation of its tenth year, Google is offering a bonus regarding Google Play Points.
Google Play Points is a reward system that lets users earn points with purchases from the Google Play Store. If it is your first time signing up for the service, the first week, you’ll have a three-times bonus multiplier, and after that, you’ll earn one point for every $1 spent. Of course, this value will depend on the country, so check to see if Play Points are supported in your region. Once you have accumulated enough points, you can spend the earned points on digital content, coupons, and more.
As mentioned previously, Google is offering a bonus on points for a limited time, giving users a ten-time multiplier on Google Play Points. To take advantage of this promotion, you’ll want to head into your profile for Google Play Points and activate it. The bonus period will only will for 24 hours. To further celebrate and reminisce about the Google Play Store, head to the source link below to revisit some of the service’s favorite milestones and features.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the nodal cyber security agency under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity), has issued an advisory urging users of the Apple Watch smartwatch to update their devices. The agency said on Friday, July 22 that Apple’s WatchOS, the operating system underlying Apple’s smartwatch, carried a security flaw that could allow hackers to remotely bypass security restrictions on the device, and steal data.
The CERT-In advisory states that there were “multiple" vulnerabilities in Apple’s WatchOS 8.6, which was the penultimate version of WatchOS. These vulnerabilities could be leveraged by a cyber attacker to execute arbitrary remote code — which would allow them to gain privileged access to sensitive user data. In simpler terms, a flaw in the code of WatchOS software could allow attackers to remotely access user data — without any permission being allowed by a user.
Apple issued a patch for these vulnerabilities on Wednesday, July 20 as part of its WatchOS 8.7 update. The list of security issues patched by Apple stated that the particular issue mentioned by CERT-In, listed under CVE-2022-32788, was discovered by security researcher Natalie Silvanovich of Google’s Project Zero team.
Apple’s update also patched a host of other vulnerabilities on the system, which would have allowed apps on Apple’s software to be breached by hackers to gain privilege access on devices. Using such privilege, hackers could get access to sensitive user data such as health and fitness data, geolocation and other services.
Users are advised to apply Apple’s latest update, WatchOS 8.7, in order to fix such security risks.
Such security risks are relatively routine in nature, and most companies providing popular operating systems around the world, such as Google’s various versions of Android, Microsoft’s Windows and Apple’s iOS, macOS and WatchOS, offer regular security updates to patch vulnerabilities. These security flaws are regularly flagged by researchers around the world, and regular patches are rolled out for the same.

Apple’s latest operating system for its mobile devices, iOS 16 has some great new features and updates, like a customisable lock screen, password-protected photo albums, or the ability to unsend and edit already sent text messages.
However, there are a few areas where Apple dropped the ball and failed to improve certain functionalities that had been integrated into iOS a long time back. These features, although preferred by some people, are largely found to be annoying by most.
One of the most annoying new feature, at least for us, has been the redesigned notifications that now appear at the bottom of your lock screen. That is Apple trying to reinvent the wheel - something that no one asked for and was simply not necessary.
Luckily, for a few of these features, Apple’s iOS 16 allows users to deactivate or turn them off. We take a look at a few of these features and how to revert them back to their previous versions, or how to turn them off completely.
Going back to the old style of lock screen notifications.
This is one of the most unnecessary changes that Apple has brought about. Instead of appearing at the top of your lock screen, notifications now appear at the bottom, which you can then tap on to appear full screen.
If you want to go back to how notifications appeared on iOS 15, launch the Settings application and go to Notifications then Display As. From the options that you see, select the List option, to go back to the old notification style.
Preventing the lock/unlock button from ending phone calls.
The power button on your iPhones can be used to decline calls. While this may seem to be a nice feature to have, accidentally hitting it while you are on a call will end the call abruptly. This is a feature that you may want to turn off.
In Settings, go to Accessibility, then Touch and toggle off Lock to End Call to prevent the side button from ending your calls. This way, even if you hit the button while you’re on a call, your screen will either light up or will go to sleep, but it won’t interfere with your call.
Stopping Featured Photos and Memories from popping up
“Memories” or Featured Photos is a novelty feature that no one really cares for. More often than not, the images that pop up automatically, are private, and sometimes embarrassing. As great as Apple’s AI is, it sometimes showcases some of the more rather inappropriate images that we have on our phones, which, can be very embarrassing.
Fortunately, with iOS 16, you can now prevent Featured Photos from appearing in photo widgets on your home screen and the Search and For You sections in Photos.
Just launch the Settings app, go into Photos and toggle off Show Featured Content. All featured content will no longer appear on your device, just in your photo library and albums.
Removing the search button from your home screen.
The Search feature on your iPhone allows you to quickly look up things, whether it's a text message, a third-party app, a file, a note or even a quick internet search.
iOS 16 has added another way to access Search from the home screen, via a small button right above your dock. Unfortunately, it's easy to accidentally trigger, because it's near where your thumb might go when you swipe between your various home pages.
To disable this, launch the Settings app, go to Home Screen and toggle off Show on Home Screen under the Search section to remove the search button from your home screen.

According to WABetaInfo report, the disappearing messages can be viewed within chat info in a new section called 'Kept messages', and all people in the conversation can open this section.
The report mentioned that this feature is still under development, but WhatsApp is now working on introducing the feature by presenting some information about an upgrade of disappearing messages in a future update of the WhatsApp Desktop beta.
In addition, WhatsApp will let group admins limit this feature, so probably, there will be a new privacy setting that allows group admins to toggle the ability to keep a disappearing message.
This feature is under development, so it is unclear when it will be released to beta testers.
WhatsApp is also working on letting users silently leave groups without notifying other group participants, except admins. But all group members will still be able to see who leaves the group by using a feature called 'past participants'.

A Twitter security vulnerability discovered in early 2022 has been used to cull the account details of 5.4 million users, and the hacker is offering the set for sale for $30,000, says a new report. According to AppleInsider, a hack of 5.4 million users is small compared to the 478 million T-Mobile customers affected in August 2021. It is even small compared to the 70 million users of AT&T affected later that same month.
Yet, according to Restore Privacy, the hacked data now on sale comes from a vulnerability that was reported in January 2022. The microblogging site acknowledged that this was a valid security issue and even paid the discoverer, “zhirinovskiy”, a $5,040 bounty.
“Exactly as the HackerOne user zhirinovskiy described in the initial report in January, a threat actor is now selling the data allegedly acquired from this vulnerability,” said Sven Taylor of Restore Privacy. “The post is still live now with the Twitter database allegedly consisting of 5.4 million users being for sale.”
Taylor mentioned that they reached out to the seller of this database to gather additional information. “The seller is asking for at least $30,000 for the database, which is now available due to ‘Twitter’s incompetence,’ according to the seller.”
The seller has posted about the data on the site Breach Forums. According to Restore Privacy, the forum’s owner has verified the authenticity of the leak.
A sample of the data available is included in the Breach Forums posting. It appears to show publicly available Twitter profile information alongside phone numbers and/or email addresses used for logging in.
Watch video:Nothing Phone (1) Detailed Review: What’s Cool And What’s Not
It does not appear to include passwords. While it does contain email addresses that could be used with Twitter’s “Forgot Password” feature, a bad actor would have to separately have access to that email account’s login password.
