Samsung announced the Galaxy S23 series at its first Unpacked event in February 2023. While the flagship is comparatively fresh in the minds of the tech fraternity, rumours have started revealing the details of the upcoming S24 series that will likely launch next year. In the latest move, noted tipster Ice Universe claims the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a "Titanium" frame.

According to a report, the current (S23) models have an aluminium frame. However, the upcoming series may have extra durable frames for added toughness. Further, Apple is also expected to introduce titanium construction in its forthcoming iPhone 15 series.

In a separate tweet, the tipster added the Galaxy S24 Plus may have a larger display than its predecessor at 6.65 inches. If the leak materialises, the upcoming phone will have slightly more room for multimedia viewing than the S23 Plus. According to a MySmartPrice report, the US variant of the device appeared on Geekbench with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The handset was running on Android 14. It is reported that the company may bring back its Exynos processor with the upcoming S series in select regions.

As for more leaks, the battery capacities of Galaxy S24 Plus and S24 Ultra were leaked by a Dekra listing. The S24+ and S24 Ultra may have a 4900mAh and 5100 typical battery pack. The smartphones have reportedly been codenamed Muse with Muse 1 denoting S24, Muse 2 as S24 Plus and Muse 3 as S24 Ultra. Among the notable upgrades will be a stacked battery pack borrowed from the technology of EVs for improved battery backup.

The devices may run on OneUI 6 based on Android 14. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and a 200MP camera on the Ultra could be present. The Galaxy S24 series will likely include three smartphones: Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Nowhere Near the Length of Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla - Push Square

Assassin's Creed Mirage has been billed as a 'smaller' more traditional Assassin's Creed title since the day it was officially announced, and Ubisoft's still pushing that perspective as we creep closer to the game's October launch.

In an interview with French YouTube channel Julien Chièze (as translated by PCGamesN), lead producer Fabian Salomon gives some insight into how long Mirage actually takes to beat. Salomon says internal playtesting has shown that a "rushed" playthrough lasts roughly 20 hours, while a much more complete run takes anywhere between 25 and 30 hours.

If these figures are fairly accurate, then we're obviously looking at a much smaller adventure than what we've grown accustomed to with the series' 'open world RPG trilogy'. That is, Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla — all of which could last you close to or well over 100 hours if you included update content and expansions.

Indeed, Mirage seems to fall in line with, again, more traditional Assassin's Creed releases. Each of the Ezio games, for example, took around 30-ish hours to complete, so that's the kind of scope we're expecting from Basim's origin story. It's also worth noting that Mirage is a lower price release, retailing at $50 / £45 or thereabouts, rather than the full $70 / £60 price tag we've come to associate with current-gen blockbusters.

Apple usually unveils its latest iPhone lineup in September every year. According to reports, the launch could be delayed by a weeks.

Apple's upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will get big camera upgrades, a USB-C and A16 chipset. The new iPhone 15 Pro will get redesigned internally to be more repairable like the iPhone 14, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman posted on social media platform X.

The iPhone 15 pro is likely to be unveiled in September, provided there are no delays. However, Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan had predicted that the latest iPhone launch could be delayed by few weeks and could be unveiled in October this year.

Tim Lang, an analyst has claimed in his research that the iPhone 15 will be costlier than iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to be $100 costlier than the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be $100-$200 more expensive than iPhone 14 Pro Max which was launched in September last year.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is hoping to ensure the latest iPhone 15 shipments are ready despite turmoil in the global economy as well as a projected decline in the smartphone market.

According to a Counterpoint Research report, smartphone sales witnessed an eight per cent drop in the June quarter. Apple's sales dropped two per cent in the recent quarter, although it witnessed a 17 per cent rise in market share due to continuing growth in demand for smartphones being sold at $600. Chinese Android brands Vivo and Xiaomi both suffered declines of more than 10 per cent.

The Bloomberg journalist also had an updated for the upcoming Apple Watch. lineup. “This year’s Apple Watches will be minor updates focused on faster processors. But here’s what you need to know about an all new case material for the Series 9 and the potential of a black titanium option on the Ultra 2”, Gurman posted on the platform X.

iPhone 15 Pro — Apple's flagship smartphone that is expected to make its debut this year — could be equipped with a new Action button, after features related to the physical button were reportedly spotted on the latest iOS 17 beta. Previous leaks suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a new physical button in place of the mute switch, and a new report now suggests that Apple's next Pro smartphone models could support at least nine functions that are customisable.

Apple recently rolled out iOS 17 beta 4 to developers, with various bug fixes and tweaks to the interface. The latest beta also includes code that point to the existence of the rumoured Action button, according to a MacRumors report. The code also suggests that the button could support a range of features, from toggling accessibility settings to enabling and disabling Focus modes.

In addition to offering the functionality of the mute switch it is expected to replace, the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro could also be allowed to quickly enable or disable a Focus mode. Apple AirTag hidden in a teddy bear helps catch thief - HT Tech

Over the past few months, there have been several arguments around whether or not Bluetooth trackers like Apple AirTag are misused to track individuals. In response, Google and Apple joined forces to submit an industry specification to combat this problem. However, while this technology can be abused, it also has some benefits too, such as assisting people in keeping a check on lost or stolen items. Now, another unorthodox use case of AirTag has surfaced where it was used to track a criminal who committed burglaries.

AirTag helps catch burglar

As per a report by WMBF News, staff at the Sneaky Beagle restaurant in South Carolina, US, said the police tracked a burglar who stole their decoy safe thanks to an AirTag that was inside it. Astonishingly the AirTag was stuffed inside a teddy bear that was kept in the decoy safe as bait. The Bluetooth tracker pinged the safe's location at the culprit's home 30 minutes after the burglary, and the authorities later connected this to nine other burglaries in the neighborhood.

The police connected 52-year-old Samuel Smith to not just this burglary but a series of them that targeted places like Old Bull & Bush Pub and Eatery, Doyle's Pub & Grub, and Handley's in the vicinity during a crime spree that was spread over four months.

The Bluetooth tracker pinged the safe's location at Smith's home 30 minutes after the burglary, and the authorities later connected this to nine other burglaries in the neighborhood.

The report further states that Smith is currently facing nine counts of second-degree burglary. Thomas Erskine, Kitchen Manager at the Sneaky Beagle told WMBF News, “I think one of the guests that came in had ended up leaving a stuffed animal and we ended up putting an AirTag inside of the stuffed animal.”

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature allowing users to send 60-second video messages in real-time within the app.

Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta chief, has announced roll out of a new feature on WhatsApp, allowing users to send 60-second video messages directly within the messaging app. Unlike before, there's no need to attach video files as the videos are now instantly recorded and shared.

"Video messages are a real-time way to respond to chats with whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds. We think these will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion that comes from video…," Meta said in a statement.

How to send video messages on WhatsApp?

Sending a video message is as simple as sending a voice message. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open your WhatsApp

Step 2: Go the chat or group where you want to send video message

Step 3: In the right bottom part, you will see the microphone button, used for sending voice messages. Just tap to switch to video mode

Step 4: Hold to record the video. Alternatively, swipe up to lock and record the video hands-free.

Step 5: Once you are done, leave the button and the video will be sent.

Videos will play automatically on mute when opened in a chat. Tapping on the video will start the sound.

Meta says video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your messages secure.

How WhatsApp Video message feature is different?

WhatsApp's new video message feature offers a notable difference from the earlier method of sending videos. Before the update, users could send videos to contacts or groups, which were saved to the camera roll. However, with the latest update, videos can be recorded and sent in real-time, without being saved to the camera roll.

As videos are recorded and shared in real-time, it provides a sense of immediacy and authenticity, as recipients can tell that the video was recently recorded.

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus to Feature Upgraded 48-Megapixel Sony Camera: Kuo - Gadgets 360

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus — expected to debut later this year as the successors to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus — could be equipped with a 48-megapixel camera that will replace the existing 12-megapixel shooter and allow the camera to capture more light resulting in better image quality. It will reportedly be similar to the one introduced on last year's iPhone 14 Pro lineup. The smartphone maker was first tipped to introduce the stacked sensor technology to the cheaper iPhone models earlier this year.

In a blog post on Wednesday, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo states that Apple will launch the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus with a new 48-megapixel rear camera instead of the 12-megapixel primary camera on the iPhone 14 and previous models. Kuo claims that the Cupertino company will include the higher-resolution camera sensor from Sony that has a stacked CMOS image sensor (CIS).

Back in May, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu predicted that Apple would equip its upcoming smartphones with an upgraded 48-megapixel camera. At the time, Pu claimed that there were yield issues with the stacked sensor that were affecting the production of the new models.

However, Kuo states in his blog post that Sony has ramped up production of the CIS for Apple "by 100-120 percent" as the Japanese firm races to meet Apple's demand. He adds that the company's move has led to a drop in CIS supply for manufacturers of high-end Android smartphones.

As a result, Kuo states that Android handset manufacturers — especially Chinese brands — will need to turn to other suppliers of high-end CIS solutions, such as Will Semi and Smartsens. Meanwhile, Kuo's predictions suggest that Pu's apprehensions of a delay in the production of the iPhone 15 series might have been averted by Apple.

Last year's iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with a dual rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel cameras, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were equipped with an upgraded primary camera that allows users to click 48-megapixel ProRAW photos while capturing more light for improved photo quality. Apple is yet to announce plans to launch the iPhone 15 series of smartphones, which is expected to debut later this year.

Samsung has consistently refined its Galaxy Tab series for years and the latest additions are here with the Galaxy Tab S9 trio. Like last year, Samsung is bringing a vanilla tablet with an 11-inch screen and a plus-sized version with a 12.4-inch diagonal while the top-end Ultra model boasts a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel.

Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

At first glance, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra might not seem that much different from its predecessor, but Samsung managed to bring in several noteworthy upgrades. All three Galaxy Tab S9 models are now IP68 dust and water resistant making them the first mainstream Samsung tablets (there is also the rugged Tab Active line) to feature this level of ingress protection.

Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra brings a spacious 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1,848 x 2,960px resolution and 120Hz variable refresh rate. The notch cutout is still present and houses a pair of 12MP front-facing cameras – a regular wide and an ultrawide module. The quad speakers with AKG tuning are now 20% larger and the optical in-display fingerprint reader is also carried over.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series is equipped with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset just like the Galaxy S23 series and the latest foldables from Samsung. Tab S9 Ultra can be configured with 12GB or 16GB RAM and 256/512GB or 1TB storage. Each Tab S9 device is also configurable in Wi-Fi only or 5G trims and supports microSD card expansion.

The back of the Tab S9 Ultra features a refined design with dual camera rings and an LED flash. There’s a 13MP main sensor with autofocus and 4K video recording capabilities up to 60fps. The secondary module is a 12MP ultrawide lens, which should be a notable upgrade from the 6MP unit on the Tab S8 Ultra.

Galaxy Tab S9 family

Tab S9 series boot Android 13 with Samsung One UI 5.1 on top and Samsung is also bringing continuity features for select flagship Galaxy phones including the new Flip5 which lets you use your phone as a companion display for your tablet in select apps while also offering a shared clipboard across your Galaxy devices. Samsung is also pledging four Android updates and five years of security updates.

Tab S9 series devices are also getting some exclusive apps and features like GoodNotes - one of the most popular iPad apps for taking notes, which is finally coming over to Android and it will be available exclusively on supported Samsung Galaxy Tab devices.

Unlike last year’s Galaxy Tab S8 which had an LCD, Samsung outfitted the vanilla Tab S9 with the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel as its larger siblings. The Tab S9 boasts an 11-inch diagonal with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, a single 12MP front facing cam and an UD fingerprint scanner.

Tab S9+ gets a 12.4-inch diagonal and the same refresh rate and it has dual 13MP + 8MP rear facing cameras just like on the Tab S9 Ultra. Samsung’s Vision Booster is also present on the Tab S9 and S9+ models.

Tab S9 and Tab S9+ are also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset but the Tab S9 is only configurable with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage while the Plus gets 12GB RAM as standard and is configurable with 256/512GB storage.

The other point of difference comes in the battery department where the Tab S9 brings an 8,400 mAh battery while the Tab S9+ gets a 10,900 mAh cell. Both tablets support up to 45W fast charging. All Tab S9 models boot One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 and come bundled with S Pen styluses.

Following the launch of the super high-end Xperia 1 V last May, Sony is tipped to release the Xperia 5 V later this year. It is expected to be an upgrade over last year's Xperia 5 IV, and a new leaked promo video has now seemingly revealed some of its key features. If the leaked video is genuine, it could mean that not everything in the Xperia 5 V will be an improvement over its predecessor.

The video in question was posted online by Redditor JB2Unique. The short, 49-second clip seems to show that upcoming device will be ditching the triple-camera system of the Xperia X IV in favor of a dual-camera setup. All prior Xperia 5-series devices shipped with triple cameras at the back, so the removal of one of the cameras in the upcoming model seems a bit jarring.

The Xperia 5 IV has an ultra-wide and a telephoto shooter alongside the main camera, but it's not immediately clear which of the two additional sensors is getting the ax in the new model. That said, online speculations suggest that the upcoming device could do away with the telephoto lens. The video has also sparked suggestions that the new model could be cheaper than its predecessors, which would be a welcome change.

The lack of a third image sensor notwithstanding, the Xperia 5V could come with a number of much-wanted features, including a 3.5mm headphone port, which has become increasingly rare these days in high-end phones. On the front, the device comes with rather chunky bezels at the top and bottom. There's no punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen, meaning the selfie-camera will be housed in the top bezel. Finally, the video also shows off the Xperia 5 V in black, white, and blue/gray, suggesting that the phone could launch in these three colors.

As for the battery, the IP-52-rated device will have a 5000mAh cell with 20W TurboPower charging will be there on the phone. Motorola claims it can survive for up to 16 hours of video playback. A 50MP primary camera will sit on the back of the phone. Features in the camera UI include Macro Vision and Night Vision. For connectivity, it will have a triple card slot. A side-mounted fingerprint reader and face recognition will be there on the handset.

So, when a former Google recruiter shared some tips and red flags about creating a resume, they obviously garnered a lot of attention from all sections.

Nolan Church, who has worked in talent acquisition at companies such as Google talked about major red flags in a resume. “The No. 1 thing I don’t want to see on a resume is probably text bricks,” the current CEO of talent marketplace Continuum said. It means writing a lot of text but without meaning and content.

“There’s zero chance you’re going to move forward,” he said. He also urged prospective job-seekers to be concise. “When people describe what they’ve been doing, they often have a hard time being concise,” Church said. Below each job title should be a series of one-line bullets. Instead, people will write “three to four sentences per bullet.”

To help with issues of being concise, Church suggested tools like ChatGPT and Grammarly. “It’s just too easy to use tools like ChatGPT or Grammarly to actually clean that up, to help you not only with punctuation, grammar, but also brevity. Both tools are free and ChatGPT offers an app version in which you can input sentences and give prompts like “make this sentence shorter.”

He also talked about how one can ask people to review or edit their resume. “I fundamentally believe that at least five to 10 people should be giving you feedback on your resume,” he added.

“My advice would be to optimize a resume for 10-second viewership,” Church added further.

Twitter restricts DMs for unverified accounts to reduce spam - The Economic Times

Microblogging platform Twitter on Saturday announced that it has restricted direct messages (DMs) for unverified accounts in a bid to reduce spam on the platform.
The company also said it will soon implement more changes in its effort to reduce spam in Direct Messages.

“Unverified accounts will have daily limits on the number of DMs they can send,” the company said in a tweet.

Further, to send unlimited DMs, a Twitter user will now have to subscribe to Twitter Blue.

Twitter, however, did not specify what the daily DM limit will be.Last week, the microblogging platform unveiled new message settings to help reduce the number of spam messages.

Once enabled, messages from followers arrive in primary inbox, while texts from verified users who users don’t follow will be sent to message request inbox.

“Users who previously had their permissions set to allow message requests from everyone will be migrated to this new setting, but can switch back at any time,” said the company.

This means users who are not subscribed to the $8/month Twitter Blue plan, will not be able to send DMs to users who don't follow them.

Sharing an update on this, Twitter on Saturday said that there has been a 70% drop in spam DMs.

“We're seeing a 70% reduction in spam in Direct Messages compared to last week,” the microblogging platform said.

This work is ongoing, and we'll continue to make changes to fight spam to make Twitter better for everyone, it said.

Earlier this month, owner Elon Musk announced that Twitter was limiting verified accounts to reading 10,000 tweets a day, in a bid "to address extreme levels of data scraping" and "system manipulation" by third-party platforms.

Non-verified users are limited to reading 1,000 tweets per day, while new unverified accounts are limited to 500 tweets.

Twitter has also said TweetDeck, a popular program that allows users to monitor several accounts at once, will only be available to verified users from next month.

These updates are in line with owner Elon Musk’s push to boost Twitter Blue subscriptions and impose restrictions on users not willing to shell out $8 every month for the plan.

Twitter Inc has announced another change on its platform and this time it is related to direct messages (DM). The company has announced that it will soon be implementing some changes in our effort to reduce spam in Direct Messages. Earlier, the Elon Musk-led company limited the number of tweets that users can view each day to prevent unauthorized scraping of potentially valuable data from the social media platform.

Musk described the new restrictions as a temporary measure that was taken because “we were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading service for normal users!"

As per the company's announcement, unverified accounts will temporarily be restricted to reading 800 posts and verified accounts will be able to scroll through up to 10,000 tweets.

In May this year, Musk revealed details about new features including adding calls and encrypted messaging coming to the platform.

Twitter Inc has made a slew of changes since Musk purchased the social media giant for $44 billion in October 2022.

The company has been in turmoil including mass layoffs and voluntary departures since the billionaire Tesla owner bought the San Francisco company and took it private. The company’s head of trust and safety left shortly after the takeover, and turnover in the top ranks has continued. The company has been hit by two lawsuits this month. Former Twitter senior engineer Chris Woodfield has sued the company that it owes at least $500 million in severance pay to ex-workers. Twitter has also been accused in several separate lawsuits of disproportionately laying off women and workers with disabilities, failing to give advance notice of layoffs, and not paying promised bonuses to its remaining employees. The company has denied those claims.

Twitter got a new competitor this month when Facebook owner Meta launched a text-focused app, Threads, and gained tens of millions of sign-ups in a few days. Twitter responded by threatening legal action.

Reddit kicks out moderators, takes over one of the biggest protesting subreddits - HT Tech

Reddit protests have been going on for more than a month now over the company's API pricing changes. Over the course of this period, many third-party applications shut down their operations citing the excessively high prices for API requests. Showing solidarity with the app developers, many subreddit moderators took their subreddits private for 48 hours, meaning no one could view, post or comment. The pressure tactic did not work, however, and some subreddits chose to stay dark for an indefinite period of time. One such protesting subreddit was r/malefashionadvice, but yesterday it finally surfaced after Reddit took over the subreddit and kicked out the moderators.

According to a report by The Verge, the moderators of r/malefashionadvice made the subreddit private last week and began urging its member base of 5.4 million to join their Discord server and Substack instead. At the time, the moderators also received a message from a Reddit admin (Reddit employee) who warned that if the subreddit was not made public, they would be replaced. However, they continued with their protest and r/malefashionadvice was kept dark.

Reddit takes action against moderators

The moderators told The Verge that they were removed by Reddit yesterday. “We more or less have been expecting the removal for the past few days,” one moderator said. Once the subreddit came back live, it only had one moderator on the list, ModCodeofConduct, the same Reddit admin who sent the warning message.

Even as the subreddit has seen the light of day, it remains restricted, which means while people can view posts and comment, only certain people have the privilege to post. As of yesterday, the is only one new post that is urging users to join the r/malefashionadvice Discord.

Discord has emerged as one of the major alternatives for those who are not happy with Reddit's current direction. The MFA (malefashionadvice) Discord has gained 3000 new members since the last week and now has a total of 5000 members.

After r/malefashionadvice was brought back, the biggest protesting subreddit is r/streetwear which continues to stay private with its community of about 4 million members.
