Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is all set to launch in India today. The launch event will begin at 12pm (noon) and the company has said that it will also introduce the Xiaomi Beard Trimmer 2 alongside. The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE was unveiled at a global event mid-September and it is now launching in the Indian market. The phone includes triple rear cameras and a flat 10-bit AMOLED display. Xiaomi has provided an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC on the smartphone. It also supports 33W fast charging.

The virtual event will begin today at 12pm (noon). Xiaomi will livestream it via YouTube for all users to watch. As mentioned, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE will be unveiled alongside the Xiaomi Beard Trimmer 2. It will be an upgrade to the Mi Beard Trimmer 1C launched last year. The predecessor was launched at Rs. 999, so the Xiaomi Beard Trimmer 2 may be priced in the same range or slightly higher.

Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE price

The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE was launched globally at a price of EUR 349 (roughly Rs. 30,300) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model is priced at EUR 399 (roughly Rs. 34,600). In India, the phone is likely to fall in the same range.

Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE specifications

Specifications of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE European model are known already. It runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top. The phone features a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixels) 10-bit flat AMOLED true-colour display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, along with up to 8GB of RAM. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE carries up to 256GB of internal storage

For photos and videos, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE comes with a triple rear camera setup that houses a 64-megapixel primary sensor, coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter and a 5-megapixel telemacro shooter. There is also a 20-megapixel selfie camera at the front.

Besides, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE packs a 4,250mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. The phone comes with a list of usual connectivity options that include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There are also options such as 5G, NFC, and an Infrared (IR) blaster. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well.

'Google' the Most Searched Term on Rival Microsoft Bing, Says Alphabet Inc Lawyer - News18

Google has claimed that ‘Google’ is the most searched term on Microsoft search engine Bing. The statement was made by Alphabet Inc unit lawyer Alfonso Lamadrid at the European Union’s General Court in Luxembourg on Tuesday, the second day of the weeklong hearing in a 2018 antitrust penalty case. “We have submitted evidence showing that the most common search query on Bing is by far Google," a Bloomberg report quoted Lamadrid as saying. As per the report, Google made the argument while asking that EU judges strike down the antitrust order against it, as well as the record five billion dollar fine. The European Commission had imposed the penalty on Google, alleging that it had unfairly pushed its search engine on Android mobile phones. It had said that Google was attempting to stifle competition and create a near-monopoly.

In response, Lamadrid argued that people chose to use Google and were not forced to do the same. He claimed that Google’s general search market share aligned with consumer surveys which showed that 95 per cent users preferred Google over rival search engines.

As per an Associated Press report, this was one of three antitrust penalties totaling more than $8 billion that the commission hit Google with between 2017 and 2019. The others focused on shopping and search, and the California company is appealing all three. While the penalties involved huge sums, critics point out that Google can easily afford them and that the fines haven’t done much to widen competition. In its original decision, the commission said Google’s practices restrict competition and reduce choices for consumers. Google, however, plans to argue that free and open source Android has led to lower-priced phones and spurred competition with its chief rival, Apple.

“Android has created more choice for everyone, not less, and supports thousands of successful businesses in Europe and around the world. This case isn’t supported by the facts or the law,” the company said when the five-day hearing opened at the European Court of Justice’s General Court, as per the AP report.

Recently, Google abused the dominant position of its Android operating system in India, using its “huge financial muscle" to illegally hurt competitors, the country’s antitrust authority found in a report on its two-year probe seen by Reuters. Alphabet’s Google reduced “the ability and incentive of device manufacturers to develop and sell devices operating on alternative versions of Android," says the June report by the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) investigations unit.

As per a landing page on Amazon, smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Vivo, OnePlus, Redmi, Vivo, Tecno, and more will be available to purchase at discounted prices during the Amazon Great Indian Festival sale. Vivo V21e 5G will be available for Rs 24,990, Vivo Y73 for Rs. 20,990 and Vivo X60 Pro for Rs. 49,990 with multiple purchasing options. Similarly, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will be available for purchase at a price of Rs 44,999, and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC will be priced at Rs. 69,999 during the sale.

Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G will be launched, and deals on Samsung M series as well as Oppo handsets will be revealed on September 29. WhatsApp has been working on a number of key features that are aimed at helping its users make the most of its platform. For instance, it is planning to replace the existing format of voice messages with voice waveforms. It has also started prompting its users to join the multi-device beta mode that would let the Facebook-owned messaging app test its upcoming Multi-Device feature in real-world scenarios before rolling it out to all the users globally. In addition to that, another WhatsApp feature that has just come into the news is the one that is called Message Reactions.

For those, who haven’t been following developments around this upcoming WhatsApp feature, when rolled out, Message Reactions will enable users to respond to a chat with a select bunch of emojis. At the moment, WhatsApp users can respond to messages with separate messages containing text, videos, audio, stickers, GIFs and emojis. However, it is not possible to respond to a message the way it is possible in Facebook Messenger or in Instagram.

With its Message Reaction feature, WhatsApp wants to change that and give users another way of responding to a message. Reports suggest that users can pick from up to seven emojis, which can be replaced with a set of different emojis from WhatsApp emoji library.

Now, a new report by WABetaInfo says that WhatsApp is planning to place these Message Reactions towards the right corner of a message soon. What’s more? The report says that the background colour of the bubble reaction may be different from that of the messages. WhatsApp, as of now, uses a combination of Green and deep Grey as the background colour in chat bubbles. The blog site says that WhatsApp could use Black coloured bubbles to distinguish between chat bubbles and message reaction bubbles.

Additionally, the screenshot of the feature shared by the blog site also shows that the message reaction bubbles will be much smaller in size compared to the chat bubbles and while the message bubbles come with curved edges, message reaction bubbles will come in a pill-shaped format.

All said and done, WhatsApp’s upcoming Message Reaction feature is being developed for both the company’s iOS and Android-based apps. That said, there is no word on when WhatsApp’s upcoming Message Reaction feature will arrive in the company’s beta apps. But given the updates, it should arrive in WhatsApp beta for Android and WhatsApp beta for iOS sooner than later.

Amazon on Wednesday hosted its annual 2021 fall event. The e-commerce giant announced a slew of new products including a new autonomous robot, a smart thermostat, and a service that lets you take care of aging family members when you’re away.

Here’s a quick summary of all the products and services that Amazon announced today.

Amazon Astro

The Amazon Astro is a new Wall-E-like autonomous robot by the company that integrates Alexa and its AI capabilities with some hardware on wheels. The Astro is a robot pet with a periscope camera with live feed support, Ring Protect Pro support and more. More than just Alexa on wheels, Astro will also have features of its own, including the ability to do things like beatbox and rest on command.

Astro is also smart enough to navigate around your house without the need of any preset routes. Astro can move, see, hear, understand and act on its own, making it a completely autonomous device. The robot will start at $999 and will be an invite-only product. Amazon also hinted at an Astro 2 that will come later and be even smarter.

Amazon Smart Thermostat

The new thermostat by Amazon works with Alexa and remains energy efficient. Amazon has partnered with Honeywell Home to enable the smart thermostat to be compatible with existing Hvac systems. The product is also priced at just $59.99.

The thermostat can automatically sense situations and regulate temperature accordingly. It will also work with commands like “Goodnight” to regulate temperatures accordingly.

Amazon Echo Show 15

Amazon’s Echo Show 15 features a large display and can be either wall-mounted or mounted on a stand. The large 15.6-inch screen makes a quick glance at information much easier. This is also helped by the new Alexa widgets. The device will also sync widgets like sticky notes from each family member and show them all in one spot.

Amazon has also designed a widget that lets users see all their existing widgets in one place, as well as another that can show you live camera feed in a PiP (picture in picture) view. The device also supports Full HD video streaming and can stream news, movies and more.

When not in use, the Echo Show can also turn into a photo frame that can also display personalised information if you choose it. The Echo show 15 is powered by the brand’s new AZ2 Neural Edge processor, which is faster than ever. It enables features like Visual ID that lets the device recognise you when you’re in the room and show content accordingly. All processing is on-device and the profile can be deleted if the user wishes.

The Echo Show 15 is priced at $249.99 and it also supports Alexa custom sounds. Alexa can now be ‘taught’ new sounds like that of a fridge door opening. This can then be used to chain automated tasks.

Amazon Kids+, Hey Disney

Amazon has added more new content to Amazon Kids+ including series and games. These include Do Re Mi, Arpo, Super Spy Ryan, Blippie’s Treehouse and Monkie Kid.

After adding support for Shaquille O’Neal and Melissa McCarthy, Amazon is also adding more real-life characters to the Alexa voice assistant. The company will soon offer Hey Disney, which will allow users to interact with their favourite Disney and even Star Wars characters. The assistant will also bake in trivia and jokes.

Hey Disney will come to life with Alexa at home and across Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms.. Amazon also announced a new Echo Show stand with a Mickey Mouse theme.

Amazon Glow

A new device, the Glow comes with a screen and a projector built into the device that offers an immersive experience for kids. There is an 8-inch LCD screen that will allow kids to watch their parents, teachers and guardians while the projected image below acts as a second interactive screen. The device is also portable and can be picked and placed anywhere to use with any flat surface.

Amazon Glow also supports object scanning to turn pictures and toys into digital elements like stickers and jigsaw puzzles. Amazon has also partnered with companies like Disney and Mattel to bring more content to the device. Glow will also let kids call pre-selected contacts. The Glow is priced at $249.99.

Amazon Halo View

A sequel to Amazon’s Halo, the Halo View comes with a display and comes with 7 days of battery life. It features a number of different leather, metal and other bands. It will feature a number of health tracking abilities like heart-rate tracking as well as Halo Fitness workout plans and Halo Nutrition personalised meal planner (Both included in the Halo membership).

New Ring Products

Amazon announced a bunch of new Ring security products at the event. These include the Ring Always Home Cam, a personal drone camera that can fly around your house and give you a thorough look around all parts of your house when you want it.

The Ring Alarm pro is a professionally monitored security system with a built-in WiFi 6 eero router and the Ring Virtual Security Guard lets you allow professional people to monitor your cameras. Amazon also announced the Blink Video Doorbell for front doors that will let users see and speak to visitors.

Alexa Together

Alexa Together is a service that will let users help aging family members feel more comfortable living independently. An extension to Care Hub, Alexa Together will bring new features like urgent response, hands-free 24/7 access to a professional emergency helpline and more.

The service will also be compatible with third-party devices that can detect any issues at home, like someone falling. Alexa Together will also make help more available when needed, allowing anyone like a caring neighbour to help someone in need.
