Everything we're expecting at Microsoft's Surface and AI September event - ZDNet

The Surface Pro is arguably Microsoft's flagship device, and this year will mark its 10th anniversary. Whether Microsoft decides to keep the numerical naming scheme or confuse the audience with a Surface Pro X branding (even though that already exists) remains in question.

What's near-certain is that Microsoft has released a new Surface Pro model every year, with the Surface Pro 8 and 9 seeing 2021 and 2022 launches, respectively, setting the stage for the 10th-gen model during the upcoming event.

The Surface Pro 9 made for a solid Windows 2-in-1 last year, with ZDNET Reviews Editor June Wan calling it "The MacBook competitor Windows users have been waiting for."

However, the device didn't push any boundaries in terms of design and functionality from its predecessors, so Microsoft has every opportunity to position the Surface Pro 10 as the next big step forward.

According to Windows Central, the biggest change with the upcoming model will be its two size options, adding a smaller 11-inch option to the existing 13-inch model. The 11-inch Surface Pro will reportedly have a similar form factor as the Surface Go, with the exception of slimmer bezels. Stay tuned to ZDNET for the full reviews when everything becomes official.

Infinix Zero 30 5G with 50MP selfie camera launched at Rs 21,999 - Times of India

Chinese smartphone maker Infinix has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the new Zero 30 5G smartphone. The smartphone promises improved camera quality and performance. Infinix Zero 30 5G is the first smartphone to feature a 50MP front camera and sports a 144Hz AMOLED display. The smartphone also has a 108MP primary camera and is powered by a MediaTek chipset.Infinix Zero 30 5G is now available for pre-order while the company is also offering discounts and no-cost EMI with select bank cards.

Infinix Zero 30 5G: Key specs
Infinix Zero 30 5G sports a 6.78-inch Full HD+ 10-bit curved AMOLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display supports a 144Hz variable refresh rate and 1080*2400 resolution. The latest smartphone also features an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8020 6nm chipset which is backed by up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

For optics, the Infinix Zero 30 has a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 50MP sensor in the front for selfies and video calls. The selfie camera is assisted by a Dual LED flash setup and eye-tracking Auto Focus technology and can record 4K videos at 60FPS.
The smartphone also houses a dual rear camera setup that includes -- a Samsung ISOCELL HM6 108MP primary sensor which supports Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. The rear camera module also has a quad LED flash setup.

Google Chrome is making it easy to capture still frames in videos - Android Police

• Google Chrome, the most-used web browser, has introduced a new feature to copy video frames, eliminating the need for third-party tools in content creation.
• The feature allows users to pause a video in the browser, right-click, and select "Copy Video Frame" to grab a high-quality still.
• While the feature is said to be available starting today, it may not be visible on all versions of Chrome yet and is currently limited to certain websites where the browser's right-click menu is not suppressed.

Google Chrome has been at the forefront of many technological enhancements since it debuted way back in 2008. It didn’t take more than four years before it passed up Microsoft Internet Explorer as the most-used web browser in the world, a title it still holds 11 years later with around 66 percent of the total share. One little feature has been missing since it launched, however, and that has to do with capturing still frames from videos. That all changed earlier today.

On a blog post sharing browser tips for college students, Google casually dropped its latest innovation to copy video frames. Rolling out with the newest Chrome desktop version, all you have to do to grab a high quality still is pause any video playing in the browser, right-click it, and select “Copy Video Frame.”

There’s no more need to use third-party tools to screen grab from videos on sites like YouTube without showing the player controls, which is an extremely helpful addition. For anyone working in the online content creation world, this is more than welcomed.

Despite Google saying that the feature is "available starting today," we’re not seeing it on the official build of Chrome 116 or even Chrome Canary 118. However, The Verge was able to test the feature already and noted that it works on YouTube and Google Photos, but not many other places, and not at all on sites where the browser's right-click menu is suppressed. The tool also loads the screenshot in your computer's clipboard instead of saving a file, and it captures the frame at the video's resolution rather than your monitor's.

Nothing else in the blog post came as a surprise, but if you feel like you’re in need of a refresher of what Chrome can do with grouped tabs, extensions, and research tools, it’ll be a good read. Chrome is always evolving, and it’s recently began reworking its reader mode with new style options and a splash of Material You. Motorola launches Moto G84 with a Snapdragon 695, costs under $250 - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com

Motorola teased the Moto G84 on Flipkart last week, and today it officially launched the midranger in India. The smartphone comes with a somewhat old Snapdragon 695 chipset with 5G support, but it still looks like a great package for its price point.

Upfront is a 6.55" 10-bit OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. Motorola promises peak brightness of 1,300 nits. There is a single punch hole in the center for the selfie camera - a 16 MP shooter with an f/2.45 aperture.

There are two more cameras on the back instead of the three on the Moto G82. The main one has a 50 MP 1/1.5” sensor with 1.0µm pixel size and f/1.88 lens. It comes with Dual PDAF and OIS. Next to it is an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle cam with 118 degrees FoV, but no AF.

Both cams support 4K video at 30 fps and bring Auto Night Vision for better photos in a dark environment.

The Moto G84 has Dolby Atmos support and Moto Spatial Sound, which should sound lovely through the stereo speakers.

The Moto G84 ships with Android 13, and the company promised it will get Android 14 and 3 years of security updates.

The 5,000 mAh battery inside the Moto G84 supports 30W fast charging, with Motorola providing the adapter in the retail box. Other highlights include Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a dual SIM slot for two nano cards.

Motorola is continuing its partnership with Pantone and launched the phone in a lovely Viva Magenta color, which is a faux leather panel. There’s also a Marshmallow Blue color option, which is also vegan leather (in reality, it is fancy PVC coating), and fans of plainer design can pick the Midnight Blue variant.

There is only one memory option for the Moto G84 with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It costs INR19,999 ($245/€222) and starts on September 8 at Flipkart.

The Sony Xperia 5 V (that's five-mark-five if you were wondering) is finally coming out today. And as usual, Sony will broadcast the announcement live on YouTube.

The Xperia 5 V will swap a triple camera system for a dual one, but the large sensor main camera could very well have superior light-gathering capabilities than the outgoing model's telephoto module even at 2x magnifaction.

Upfront, expect a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED display and two front-firing speakers. Underneath the Xperia 5 V has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with as much as 16GB of RAM.

The battery should be a 5,000mAh unit with 30W wired charging and wireless charging.

The iQOO Z7 Pro is now official as the latest Z7 series device in India. It brings updates across the board compared to the iQOO Z7 launched in March. The Z7 Pro gets a larger curved 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also retains the in-display fingerprint scanner and 16MP front-facing camera housed inside a punch-hole cutout.

MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 chipset sits at the helm aided by 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. The back houses a 64MP main camera with OIS and a 2MP depth sensor. We got the chance to test out the Z7 Pro’s cameras last week and you can check out some photo and video samples here.

There’s a 4,600 mAh battery here which supports up to 66W fast charging and iQOO claims a 1-50% charge in 22 minutes. The software side is covered by Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13 with iQOO promising 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches. The device is also IP52 dust and water-resistant.

iQOO Z7 Pro comes in Blue Lagoon and Graphite Matte colors. Pricing starts at INR 23,999 ($290) for the 8/128GB trim and INR 24,999 ($302) for the 8/256GB version. Open sales are scheduled to begin on September 5 via iQOO India and Amazon at 12 noon IST time.
