Zoom app will stop working on these laptops, here's why - Times of India

Video conferencing platform Zoom became one of the most used and talked about apps in the last two years. With the coronavirus pandemic striking hard worldwide, the need for video calls rose phenomenally and with the popularity of Zoom. The pandemic also saw the rise of Chromebooks and people had the need for affordable laptops for online classes, meetings, etc. A report by 9to5Google reveals that the Zoom app for Chromebooks will soon be shutting down.

When is the Zoom app for Chromebooks shutting down?

Those who use the Zoom app on Chromebooks are seeing this message, “This app will no longer be officially supported after August 2022. Please use the new Zoom for Chrome PWA to join meetings on ChromeOS.” So after August, the Zoom app will cease to exist on ChromeOS.
Why is Zoom shutting the app on Chromebooks?
The report says that while the app has been around for a few years, the functionality has been very limited. Also, the app hasn’t got significant updates for a while now. A key reason why the app won’t work on Chromebooks is that it is an older app. Google had said in August 2020 that it will phase out Chrome apps and wants developers to have Progressive Web Apps for Chromebooks.
What are Progressive Web Apps?
Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) basically work like websites but provide an app-like experience. Instead of installing apps, these work like regular websites. Google has been promoting PWAs for ChromeOS for a while now and from June 2022, Google is shutting down almost all Chrome apps on ChromeOS — a reason why the Zoom app is down.
How does one Zoom on Chromebooks?
Last year, Zoom introduced its PWA for Chromebooks. It works quite similarly to how Zoom works on macOS. Zoom has been updating the PWA also regularly. Instead of using an app, users will have to use the PWA to log in to Zoom on Chromebooks.

Motorola Razr 3's price leaks - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com

Motorola is currently busy working on the third generation of its foldable smartphone, which we're tentatively calling Razr 3. This was previously seen in a quick video, and some of its specs were leaked too. But what about pricing?

Thankfully that's out now. A new rumor today coming from a usually reliable source claims that the Razr 3 will cost €1,149 in the EU. This means the Razr 3 will be cheaper than the Razr 5G was when it launched in Europe for €1,399.

The original Motorola Razr foldable The original Motorola Razr foldable

Not just that, but the Razr 3 has also long been rumored to be a proper high-end foldable, so it's cheaper than its predecessor while sporting better specs! That's not something we've seen very often this year, so if this info pans out, it seems pretty exciting.

Then again, the Razr 3's main competitor will obviously be Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Flip4, and if that costs the same as its predecessor at launch, it will still be €100 cheaper than Motorola's effort. Let's not forget that the Z Flip3 is the best selling foldable ever, until this point, so the Flip4 will have that cachet going for it too in its fight with the Razr.

Anyway, the Razr 3 is said to initially launch in just one color version - Quartz Black. Again that will most likely be in stark contrast to Samsung's Z Flip4, which will probably have multiple color choices.

According to previous rumors, the Razr 3 will have a 6.7" internal screen and a 3" external one - probably matching the Flip4 in the former while massively outshining it in the latter department. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC is confirmed to run the show, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage (which makes the price difference more bearable compared to the Flip4's entry level model).

Cheapest Apple iPad to get BIG upgrades in years, challenge Samsung Galaxy tablets - HT Tech

Cheapest Apple iPad is rumoured to get some big upgrades this year. Apple could ditch the Lightning port entirely from the iPad lineup this year.

Cheapest Apple iPad is getting some serious upgrades soon! The base 10.1-inch Apple iPad has largely remained unchanged over years, and is mostly the “one last recycling attempt” for Apple's outgoing technologies. Old design, old Apple Pencil, Old iPad accessories, old chipset – that can all be said for the base iPad. However, Apple is shuffling things for the next-gen model, as suggested by rumours. The cheapest iPad is getting some serious upgrades to bring it on par with the rest of the iPad lineup.

The iPad is getting some big and much needed upgrades, as suggested by a 9To5Mac report. One of the big and frankly much needed upgrade is the USB-C port! Yes, Apple is planning to ditch the old Lightning port for good and replace it with the USB_C port. Not only will the USB-C port allow users to charge the iPad with any Mac or Android phone charger, it will also for faster data transfer speeds, and possibly the ability to connect to an external display.

Cheapest Apple iPad getting BIG upgrades

To compliment the USB-C port, Apple is also updating the chipset, but now with the newest one. In typical base iPad ritual, this model is getting the older A14 Bionic chip. It is certainly faster than the A13 chip on the current model and offers a notable performance upgrade. Having the A14 also means the iPad will now support 5G networks.

Another aspect expected to get upgraded is the display. The rumour says that Apple will offer a Retina display with the same resolution as that of the iPad Air. Hence, it is possible that the display could lose the bezels and maybe borrow the same design as the iPad Air. However, this display won't come with modern niceties such as P3 colour gamut, and the True Tone. We won't be surprised to see this iPad looking like the 3rd Gen iPad Air; If Apple can still sell the iPhone SE 3rd Gen in 2022, it can do so with the base iPad model.

Nonetheless, the iPad getting these upgrades could help Apple attract more buyers from the Samsung Galaxy Tab camp. Activity has increased in the world of tablets lately, with more brands jumping in to take a slice. We recently saw Xiaomi launch its powerful and capable Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet to take on the base iPad with a modern design, a powerful processor, and a host of accessories. The iPad getting competitive is a sign of Apple sit up and take notice.
