Realme's latest 5G smartphone in the mid-range segment is powered by a Dimensity chipset and comes in multiple options.

Realme 9i 5G smartphone has launched in India on Thursday, making it the latest mid-range 5G device from the company in the market. With the launch of 5G expected in the coming weeks, brands are now gearing up with their respective 5G hardware that can be utilised to support 5G connectivity. Realme is using a Dimensity 5G chipset to power this device and it gets a shiny device to catch your attention.

Realme 9i 5G Price In India

Realme 9i 5G comes in two variants, you have the 4GB + 64GB model for Rs 14,999 and the higher variant with 6GB + 128GB comes for Rs 16,999. Realme 9i 5G pre-orders start from August 24.

Realme 9i 5G Specifications

Realme 9i 5G sports a 6.6-inch LCD display with a waterdrop notch. The screen offers Full HD+ resolution and supports a 90Hz refresh rate. You have the fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button. Realme is using the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC to power the device, paired with 4GB and 6GB RAM, along with 64GB and 128GB storage.

The phone has a dedicated storage card slot that is expandable up to 2TB. You also get 3GB of virtual RAM support on this device.

Realme 9i 5G runs on Realme UI 3.0 version which is based on the Android 12 operating system.

On the imaging front, Realme is offering a triple-rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, along with a 2-megapixel portrait sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front of the phone gets an 8-megapixel shooter. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W charging speed via the USB Type C port. It also has a headphone jack so that you can listen to music via the wired earphones.

Over the past few years, Samsung has been aggressive when it comes to new smartphone launches, offering trade-in promotions, credits, and other incentives to lure in new and old customers. With the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, things were no different. The company delivered outrageous offers, like giving $900 in “enhanced” trade-in credit for a Galaxy Z Flip 3. But now, it looks like Samsung is pulling back its offers, quietly changing its trade-in values.

The folks at 9to5Google spotted the changes, reporting that Samsung had lowered its trade-in values for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. As mentioned before, Samsung previously offered $900 in trade-in credit for any version of the phone. But now, the trade-in credit offered starts at $700 if you trade in a 128GB model of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Those with a 256GB model will be eligible for $800 in credit, and the Bespoke Edition will bring in $900 in credit. Of course, these changes will disappoint some who were on the fence, but the offers are still pretty good even with the lower trade-in values.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 offers a familiar clamshell design with a more refined look, thanks to squared-off edges and a redesigned hinge. The 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, with deep blacks and colors that pop. It gets a slightly larger battery than its predecessor, coming in at 3,700mAh. The phone offers wireless charging or 25W wired fast charging as an option if you’re in a rush. Those that love capturing the moment while on the go will be glad to know that the phone has dual 12MP cameras capable of shooting beautiful photos and videos.

Researcher hacks into Elon Musk's Starlink system using $25 homemade device - Mashable

With over 3,000 small satellites in orbit, Elon Musk's Starlink has created an excellent fleet orbiting Earth at the moment providing satellite internet access coverage in 36 countries. However, all it took was one Belgian cyber security researcher, a $25 homemade device, and a dream to reveal the first major security flaw in Starlink's user terminals.

This past Thursday at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, Belgian security researcher Lennert Wouters showcased how he hacked into the Starlink internet system using a homemade circuit board or modchip that cost around $25 to develop, WIRED reports.

To do this, WIRED explains, Wouters had to strip down the satellite dish, allowing him to attach a custom modchip using cheap, off-the-shelf parts. Once attached, the homemade printed circuit board launches a fault injection attack that bypasses Starlink's security system, and allows access to control functions Starlink had intended to keep locked down.

"As an attacker, let’s say you wanted to attack the satellite itself," Wouters explained to WIRED, "You could try to build your own system that allows you to talk to the satellite, but that’s quite difficult. So if you want to attack the satellites, you would like to go through the user terminal as that likely makes your life easier."

Starlink's system is divided into three major parts: The satellites, the gateways sending internet connections, and the user terminals referred to as "Dishy McFlatface" by Musk's employees — the dishes people can buy, in other words. According to WIRED, Wouters' research focused on the Dishy McFlatfaces.

Wouters revealed the vulnerability to SpaceX last year and the company paid him through its bug bounty program. Starlink, in response to Wouters' showcase, published a six-page PDF explaining how it secures its systems along with a firmware update that "makes the attack harder, but not impossible, to execute."

Since 2018, Starlink has slowly established itself in the industry and has become a vital tool in keeping Ukrainians connected during the Russian invasion. According to Musk in May, Starlink has so far thwarted all cyberattacks coming from Russia.

The report says that it can track users' text choices and text input, credit card information, as well as passwords and other confidential details. This is possible if users click on the link inside the app.

The latest report claims that Instagram, as well as Facebook, use their own in-app browser. Most of the apps on Apple iPhones use the default Safari browser. However, these social media platforms use their own in-app browsers to open websites or links within the app, MacRumors reported.

“This allows Instagram to monitor everything happening on external websites without the consent from the user, nor the website provider. The Instagram app injects its tracking code into every website shown, including when clicking on ads, enabling them to monitor all user interactions, like every button & link tapped, text selections, screenshots, as well as any form inputs, like passwords, addresses, and credit card numbers,” Krause mentioned in his report.

Krause pointed out that the in-built browser of both the social media platforms Instagram and Facebook is based on WebKit. Report says that these social media platforms inject a tracking JavaScript code-named "Meta Pixel" into all links on the app. In return, this in-app browser allows Instagram to track almost everything that a user browses on an external website without their knowledge.

However, Meta on its developer portal mentioned that, “the Meta Pixel is a snippet of JavaScript code that allows you to track visitor activity on your website. It works by loading a small library of functions which you can use whenever a site visitor takes an action (called an event) that you want to track (called a conversion).”

Notably, it indicates there is no confirmation that Meta-owned social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have gathered the user data or not.

Hogwarts Legacy delayed to 2023, Warner Bros. confirms - Polygon

Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world adventure set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, originally given a holiday 2022 release window, is now a 2023 game. On Friday, publisher Warner Bros. and developer Avalanche Software announced a delay and new release date for Hogwarts Legacy: Feb. 10, 2023.

“The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience,” Warner Bros. said on the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. It also noted that the new date applies only to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions of Hogwarts Legacy — the Nintendo Switch version does not have a new release date.

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, about 100 years before Harry Potter enrolls. Though the game fits into the overall Harry Potter canon, creator J.K. Rowling is not involved in Hogwarts Legacy’s creation. Immediately after announcing Hogwarts Legacy in September 2020, last Warner Bros. Games distanced the project from her in light of Rowling’s public, and transphobic, remarks on gender identity.
