Xiaomi's naming system for its devices and the ones of sub-brand Redmi has been increasingly confusing over the past few years, and if you thought it couldn't get even more so, well, brace yourself.
The one thing that was missing from these names was the year, but that changes soon, because the company has just teased an upcoming device that will be called Redmi Note 8 2021.
The #RedmiNote8 has now sold 25M+ units globally!

This comes as the original Redmi Note 8, launched back in 2019, has managed to sell more than 25 million units globally. To celebrate this milestone, we'll be fully introduced to the Redmi Note 8 2021 soon.
If you're wondering what to expect from this new phone, some leaks from about a week ago claim it will run MIUI 12.5, have a 4,000 mAh battery, and the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset at the helm, with 22.5W charging and a quad rear camera setup with a 48 MP main sensor.
The original had the same battery size, but was powered by the Snapdragon 665. The new version is rumored to only become available in select markets, the EU and Russia among them. More details are probably on the way, so stay tuned.
