Google Nest smart speaker users can now use Apple AirPlay to stream audio and videos on their smart speakers and smart displays. But there is a catch, not everyone around the world can use this feature.
According to a report by 9To5Mac, Starling Home Hub, which is a platform that connects all the smart home devices, has got a firmware update today. Version 9.0 of the platform opens more Nest devices to Apple’s ecosystem. Simply said, with this update, Google Nest smart speaker and smart display users will be able to stream podcasts, songs and videos via Apple AirPlay.
Users can either stream content on a single Google Nest device or they can pair two Google Nest smart speakers and then use them to play songs via AirPlay.

It is worth noting that this functionality is not available in India yet. So, if you are living in India, you will still have to rely on the Apple Music app to stream songs, playlists and podcasts on Google Nest smart speakers and smart displays.
For the uninitiated, Apple had rolled out support for Apple Music on Google Assistant-powered smart speakers and smart displays back in December last year. Google, while making an announcement via a blog post, had said that this feature will not be restricted to its Nest smart speakers and smart displays. The company had also said that this feature would be available on other Google Assistant-enabled third-party devices such as smart speakers from JBL and Lenovo.
