We finally have a first look at the next version of Electronic Arts’ (EA) popular game, Battlefield. The company posted a reveal trailer for Battlefield 2042, which is created by DICE, the Swedish video game company owned by EA. The game will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 consoles. It will also come to PC through the Origin, Steam and Epic Games Store. The trailer gives us a glimpse at some of the new features that will be coming to the game…and umm…forgive us for the bias here, but the game does look pretty sick.
Amongst the significant features that we can see are wingsuits, new tornadoes that will be seen on different parts of the map, and customizable weapons. “In Battlefield 2042, the world is on the brink. Shortages of food, energy and clean water have led to dozens of failed nations, creating the greatest refugee crisis in human history. Among these Non-Patriated, or No-Pats, are families, farmers, engineers — and even soldiers. Amidst this crisis, the United States and Russia draw the world into an all-out war. No-Pat Specialists join both sides, not fighting for a flag, but for the future of the Non-Patriated in this new world,” the company said.
Seriously, does no one believe that the future is not doomed anymore? What makes matters seem even more crucial is that the map is set in the Antarctic region, so yes, it’s ice all around. You also go to Doha to fight over…you guessed it, oil. Because no one ever goes to the middle-east and fights over anything else, do they? Great to see that DICE isn’t dropping the regular Hollywood cliches here. But then again, if it ain’t broke…

Battlefield 2042 is set to launch later this year and will also have free and paid seasonal battle passes. The company has also been working to create a mobile version of the game, which will likely take on titles like PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile and more. Oh, the console and PC versions of the game will also have 128 player battle royales.
