iOS 15 announced, here is the full list of iPhones that it supports - India Today

Apple announced the much-awaited iOS 15 operating system at WWDC on Monday. There are several new things in iOS 15 that iPhone users will like. You have new features inside already available features with granular controls. But besides that, Apple has put a big focus on the privacy of users with this update. iOS 15 essentially gives more power to the iPhone user to decide what works best, as long as their privacy is concerned. The first developer beta of iOS 15 is now rolling out but the official release will take place around the iPhone launch in September.

The best thing about iOS 15 is that it will be supported on all the iPhone devices that support iOS 14. This means right from the iPhone 6s and iPhone SE in the list to the latest iPhone models, all of them will run the new iOS 15. Apple usually drops one generation of iPhone each year from the software support list, but it did not happen this time for some reason. The same goes for the iPod touch. iOS 15 is not presently available in the stable channel -- in which case you should not go ahead with the process of downloading developer beta -- the following iPhone devices are eligible for the software.

  • iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12
  • iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE (1st gen)
  • iPhone SE (2nd gen)
  • iPod touch (7th gen)

The iPod touch is getting an extension to its life with the iOS 15 support because Apple did not discontinue it last year despite being old enough to be forsaken.

If you want to download the iOS 15 developer beta, you can go to betaprofiles.com and choose iOS 15. You will see the Install Profile button, tapping on which will download the profile on your iPhone. Now, go to Settings and Install this profile. You will have to agree to the terms of service before you can use the new operating system. After you are done installing the profile, go to the Software update section. Right here, you will see the new iOS 15 Developer Beta. Download and install it. Your iPhone will restart a couple of times, and that is it. Your iPhone will now run iOS 15 Developer Beta. Keep in mind that this is a beta build and you may face problems and bugs while using it.
