WhatsApp, being a free messenger app, only requires an internet connection to work on smartphones. It sends messages, images, audio, or video. To hide messages from archived contacts and group chats, the archive feature provides users with a better facility on Whatsapp.
Once archived, the Archived Chatbox appears on the top of the screen. When a new message is received, a notification will display a number of unread texts. The number next to the ‘Archived’ text indicates the unread messages present in the box. The archived box shows on the top of the screen. That means the chats will remain hidden and will never view a new message from archived chats. This can be changed through the settings option.
Here is the step-by-step guide to remove the archived chats from your screen:
Step 1: Open Whatsapp chat on your Android device.
Step 2: If you have already archived a contact, then tap on the Archived box present on the top of the screen.
Step 3: Now after clicking on the box, all your archived chats will be opened.
Step 4: Click on the three-dotted icon present in the top right corner.
Step 5: Tap on the ‘Archive settings’.
Step 6: Now disable the ‘Keep Chats Archived ’ option.
Step 7: After the above option is disabled, the archived box will disappear from the top of the screen.
