iPhone 12 Night mode selfies teased in a new ad video - India Today

Apple recently released a new video advertisement for the iPhone 12, labeled ‘In The Dark’, it focuses on Night Mode shots. The ad which is just a little over 30 seconds long features a man who takes various selfies in different low-light conditions. With the song “In The Dark” by YG playing in the background.

He enters the closet, hides under the bed, inside a box in the garage, behind curtains, even outdoors at night. The choice of the spots highlights the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12’s Night Mode, which works several images together to create the best possible photo.

Although night mode was first introduced on the iPhone 11 back in 2019, it was previously limited to only the rear-facing camera. With the launch of the iPhone 12 lineup, Apple expanded Night mode to the front-facing selfie camera as well and added a feature for taking Portrait mode shots in the dark.

Apple's iPhone 12 Pro models utilise their advanced LiDAR Scanner to capture stunning selfies at night with ease in low light conditions.

While introducing iPhone 12, Apple had stated: "Our tight integration of hardware and software enables incredible computational photography features like the expansion of night mode to more cameras, and introduces support for HDR video with Dolby Vision. A state-of-the-art LiDAR Scanner means users can experience AR like never before, and also offers benefits to the camera with faster autofocus in low light and the introduction of night mode portraits on pro models. These experiences and so much more make this the best iPhone lineup ever.”

While using the iPhone 12's Night Mode, the selfie image is automatically brightened through machine learning algorithms, as it preserves that night time look.

How to use the Night Mode on iPhone 12 front camera
