There are lakhs of people who are regularly doing video calls and conferences using their mobile phone.

1: The display can beautifully cover the whole front without interruption or visible square.
2: Those who care about picture will have the much better main camera available for them and...
3: Since there is an Ultra-Wide on the back, which is also a commonly requested type of front camera, it is a win-win situation.
4: More Privacy.
5: Cost less.
Why "hide" it and have all the cons when just not putting any would be better?

We need that selfie camera.1: I've never seen anyone or meet anyone who actually do audio or video conference for their job, including during the pandemic, it is much less common than people make it appear, the exact same about those trying to justify the removal of the 3.5mm Jack by saying that people use wireless earstuffs, which I've seen like maybe 5 times in total and much more with wires.
2: Audio is more than enough, the pandemic didn't instantly make regular phone calls impossible.
3: Many people are actually annoyed by those video conference and some try the best they can to use fake camera.
4: If you really want to see someone and consider the second display on the back to not be enough, why would you consider a phone screen to be enough to begin with when there are tablets (many of which have 4G connectivity now) and computers, including many companies providing work laptops?
5: Many big company are subject to industrial spying, and cameras on a device that is linked to all sort of wireless networks including long range ones and have a non-hidable constantly facing the user's face is a more serious issue than the lack of front camera will ever be for any jobs.

2: If I had to do it, I'll rather use a tablet or a computer, but not a smartphone.
3: Many people still don't care about those.

BS again, the Poco F2 Pro has IP53 rating, and there are designs allowing to make it TOTALLY WATERPROOF, IP67/68 is overrated and DOES NOT prevent phones from dying from liquid exposure, and no brands cover water damage anyway.
And another lie here, the Poco F2 Pro is among the cheapest smartphone with a SD865 and parts of the cheapest sub 200$/€ phone have a pop up camera.
Why do you think they all ditched the 3.5mm Jack despite NO drawback a massive demand and a lot of people requiring it, or why they now go crazy on 8Mp Ultra-Wide, or have the 2Mp Depth + Macro useless combo?
Pointing at "X brand did that" is a totally bad argument, they are doing total nonsense and everyone know it.
2528554Anonymous, 5 hours agoI doubt people that have UWA + Wide + 2x/3x/4x/5x/10x combo use more ultra wide than the "... moreAs much as I prefer a Telephoto over an Ultra-Wide, and has more often use of magnification than a wider angle, the Ultra-Wide is still generally preferred by most people over the Telephoto.
And yes, I know about the real zoom lenses.
Don't underestimate the cost of curved edge display, punch holes who require special cable re-routing, and underdisplay camera whose cost isn't even starting to be understood yet.
Besides, the second display is already here anyway, better make good use of it.
Because people complain about bezels like you complain about a second display on the back and the pop up.
And others want REAL fulldisplay, plus many want privacy.

Demongornot, 6 hours agoIt won't add much to the price, there isn't a need for an extremely high resolution ... moreI doubt people that have UWA + Wide + 2x/3x/4x/5x/10x combo use more ultra wide than the "zoom". (I use " " because definition of zoom is variable FL).
Few steps back and main cam can capture same amount, with better quality + less distortion.
One extra screen means the display + connectors + software + protection .
It costs much more than front cam.
Why not just doing small bezel like Sony or Meizu 16 series instead?
