WhatsApp is offering Rs 51 cashback: The number of times you can get and how - Times of India

Last month, WhatsApp started testing cashbacks for its UPI-based payment feature and now a report by Business Insider reveals that the platform has started to roll out the feature to beta users on Android platform. As per the report, WhatsApp is offering a guaranteed cashback of Rs 51 to users for sending money to different contacts. The report further suggests that users can avail the cashback up to five times and the beta app has a banner on the above of the chat list that tells users about the offer.
To enroll for the WhatsApp beta, Open Google Play and search WhatsApp > Scroll down to ‘Become a beta tester’ panel > Tap on the button that reads ‘I’m in’ > Choose ‘Join’ > You’ll receive an update for the app in next few hours.
As the offer is available to beta users, it is expected that it will soon be rolled out to the public users as well. It looks like WhatsApp is trying woo users to use their payments service with such cashbacks. Similar plan was adopted by Google when it launched its digital payments platform Tez, now folded into Google Pay, back in 2017.
Recently, WhatsApp also added a dedicated payments button in the chat bar. This button enables users to quickly send money right from the chat bar. Previously, users had to open the chat action sheet in order to send payments. The platform also added a feature that allows users to add payment background when sending money. Users can choose from a range of artful expressions by WhatsApp to complement payments on occasions like birthdays, holidays or for gifts and travel.
WhatsApp pay was launched in 2018 in India as a part of trial run and after getting approval from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the service was officially rolled out to the public last year. It offers a real-time payment system with over 227 banks and is live for all users across the country.
