iPhone other storage must be cleared and the benefits to be derived is that you boost speed and save extra space.
iPhones now offer more storage than ever, however, they don't come with the option to add a microSD card. This might make your device run low on storage. However, there is a hidden, mystery storage on an iPhone known as "Other" storage that stores a myriad of leftover files and caches. This also makes your iPhone slow down. Hence one must keep cleaning iPhone other storage in order to save extra space and boost speed. Here’s all you need to know about iPhone other storage problem.
iPhone other storage: What is it?
While checking the iPhone storage in the phone's Settings tab, you will see a colour bar denoting the available storage which includes "Other" storage option. There are a lot of "Other" storages, but that could be down to running the iOS 14 beta.
These other storages contain a huge number of files that don’t fit into any other category such as downloaded Netflix videos, cache from your web browser of choice, or simply a huge amount of messages with attachments. Here’s how you clean it up
How to clean iPhone other storage
There are several ways to clean these other storages.
1: Clear Old Messages
Step 1: In settings, go to the “Messages” tab and open the “Message History”.
Step 2: Now, select the option to keep messages of up to 1 year or 30 days, and clear rest of them.
2: Clear Browser Caches
Safari caches can be pretty dense with data, and can take a toll on storage. Hence, you need to clean these caches on a regular basis.
Step 1: Go to Settings, head to “Safari”
Step 2: Then, “Clear History and Website Data '' and it's done.
You can also find an option to clear cache, in Chrome’s settings tab. Open Google Chrome, open “Settings”, and then click on “Privacy”, and “Clear Browsing Data”. Select the ones that you want to delete or you can mark all and clear them to free up some space.
3: Backup and Reset
This step is usually avoided as it leads to deletion of all data, media, passwords and everything from your phone. However, sometimes it’s actually easier to simply start again, restoring the device from a backup.
To do this, you will have to first save all the data and media and other important things to another device.
Step 1: Go to “Settings”, and open “General” tab
Step 2: Now click on “Reset” and “Erase All Content and Settings”. This will wipe all the data from your phone.
