Objectionable post got your WhatsApp account banned? Know how to revoke it - HT Tech

If your WhatsApp account has been banned or suspended, you can ask the messaging platform to revoke it. Here is all you need to know.

Did some controversial or objectionable post by you get your WhatsApp account banned? Well, then there are a few things you can do that may get the ban revoked. WhatsApp, in the month of April, banned over 16 lakh accounts of Indian users, as per the information provided by the company's monthly disclosure report. The messaging app further informed that out of the total, 122 accounts were banned based on user complaints while 16.66 lakh accounts were barred to prevent harmful activity on the app. However, before you start, you must know that if your post was horrendously objectionable, the chances of getting your WhatsApp account unbanned would be slim indeed.

It can be known that WhatsApp tends to ban or suspend accounts if it believes that the account activity violates the Terms of Service of the platform, for example if it involves spam, scams or if it puts WhatsApp users’ safety at risk. However, there are instances when some accounts are flagged from their automated systems accidentally others can be banned due to the nature of the post. So, if you think that your WhatsApp account was unjustly banned, you have a remedy at hand. How will you know that your account has been banned or suspended?

According to WhatsApp, if your account is banned, you will see the following message when you open WhatsApp: "This account is not allowed to use WhatsApp." If you think your account was banned by mistake, You can email WhatsApp or tap request a review in the app and the messaging platform will look into your case. Also, it will get back to you after completing the review.

It can be noted that when you request a review in the app, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit registration code sent to you via SMS. Once you have entered it, you will be able to submit your request for a review and add details to support your case.

WhatsApp also recommends its users to carefully review the “Acceptable Use of Our Services” section of its Terms of Service to learn more about the appropriate uses of WhatsApp and the activities that violate its Terms of Service.

Here is how to ask to revoke the ban on WhatsApp for Android:

Step 1:

When you try to log into a banned WhatsApp account, there will be an option to contact WhatsApp Support right below the message which informs you that your account has been banned. You will have to click on the 'Support' option.

Step 2:

Once you click on the support option, the Contact Support page will open, here you will have to type a message and add screenshots in support. However, you need to know that adding screenshots is optional. Then click on Next.

Step 3:

After this an email page will open, where you will have to ask for help.

Step 4:

After this WhatsApp will look into the case and your account may be restored if it finds out that their systems flagged your account by mistake. However, if WhatsApp confirms that you have violated their Terms of Service, your account will not be unbanned.
