iPhone 15 Pro to ditch clicky power switch, Apple plans to introduce solid-state buttons on device - Economic Times

Apple is all about innovations! With each year, Apple brings out changes to design and specifications on its flagship device. In the latest iPhone 14 series, while the standard model retained the A15 Bionic Chip, the Pro Models got the Dynamic Island notch, 48MP camera, and more. While there have been no cosmetic changes to the design, as both iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Series share a similar look and feel.

However, now it seems that the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to bring some major design changes to its forthcoming iPhone 15 series which is slated for 2023. According to latest reports, Apple is planning to ditch the clickable volume and power buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. The buttons will be replaced with solid-state buttons similar to those spotted on the recently-launched Apple Watch Series 8.

The development came to light after noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo took to his Twitter account. Kuo in his tweet said that volume and power buttons on the high-end iPhone models will have a solid-state button, something similar to the home button on iPhone 7/8/SE. The new buttons will essentially replace the physical/mechanical buttons.

“My latest survey indicates that the volume button and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models may adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) to replace the physical/mechanical button design,” Kuo said in his tweet.
The development also indicates that in all likelihood, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will retain the clicky buttons.
