After Google Microsoft Begins Testing Passkeys For Windows 11 Users; All You Need To Know - Jagran English

Microsoft has revealed that it is testing passkeys that will enable users to sign in to any website or application on Windows 11. Apple and Google were the first to implement passkeys for their services and devices, and now Microsoft has followed suit to make the sign-in process hassle-free and passwordless.

Users will be able to create and sign in using passkeys with the Windows Hello native experience by going to any app or website that supports passkeys, according to a Windows Insider blog post.

The company further stated in its blog that once the user creates a passkey, it can use Windows Hello which includes options like face lock, fingerprint, and Pin for the sign-in purpose. Further, the users can use their phones to complete the application login process, the company added to its blog post.

"We are offering users complete flexibility over how they manage the passkeys stored on their Windows device. They can now access and delete passkeys saved in Windows settings for their favourite apps/websites," the company said.

Microsoft also stated that Unicode Emoji 15, which began rolling out with Build 23475, is now accessible in the Dev Channel to all Windows Insiders.

Meanwhile, Google has announced that users can use passkeys in order to log in to their workspace accounts including Gmail, drive, and more, and even all the Android applications. Users can use options such as a fingerprint, a facial scan, or a screen lock PIN in order to sign in to their accounts.

However, the passwords and two-step verification process will still remain intact with the users as a security option as the company believes that it may take time to shift from passwords to passkeys.

Similarly, Apple has also announced passkeys for its iPhones, iPads, and other devices for a better, hassle-free, and faster sign-in approach.
