Pink WhatsApp – all you need to know
Pink WhatsApp claims to be a new version of WhatsApp with a pink theme. WhatsApp users have been reportedly getting links to download the Pink WhatsApp version. The link does change the colour of WhatsApp to pink, but a tweet by Mumbai police has confirmed that the link is malicious and nobody should click on it.
Once the malware is installed, it can compromise your WhatsApp account and access your personal data, including messages, contacts, and photos. Additionally, the malware may display unwanted advertisements on your phone. This is not the first time the Pink WhatsApp scam has occurred, as internet security researcher Rajshekhar Rajaharia exposed it in April 2021.

It is not an uncommon instance to see fraudsters come up with a variety of new tricks and ways to lure gullible users into falling into their trap to commit cyber fraud. It is for the users to be Aware, Alert, and Attentive to these kinds of frauds and remain safe and secure in the digital world,” Mumbai police shared in a tweet.
